Welcome to Kinglake Primary School. Our school is 56km north of Melbourne, set in the beautiful surrounds of the Great Dividing Range, with a long established history of teaching and learning excellence. Kinglake Primary School was established in 1879 and has a proud history of educating students from Kinglake and surrounding areas.
Our school is located in a quiet area away from main roads and has extensive grounds, with a balance of open spaces and natural bushland, complete with purpose designed buildings. Our grounds provide students with areas for a variety of outdoor learning spaces, play and physical activities. Our students grow a variety of fruit and vegetables in our orchard, groves and raised vegetable patches, to enhance horticultural, sustainability and healthy eating learning.
At Kinglake Primary we offer a broad curriculum that is focused on the individual. Our talented and friendly staff are caring and committed people, who create a nurturing environment for students to strive. We encourage our friendly and welcoming community to become involved in school activities and student learning, building solid relationship between the school, home, community and each student – staying true to our motto “Together we achieve”. As a teaching Principal, I pride myself on knowing every student in the school as an individual and as a learner.
Our main academic focus is building strong understanding in Literacy and Numeracy. We offer an extensive Literacy program, enhanced by our very successful CAFÉ reading program, Big Write, writing program and VCOP grammar and punctuation programs. At Kinglake Primary School we recognise the need for primary students to be immersed in Science, essential in 21st century occupations. We have a vibrant arts and sports program. We promote science as an essential part of our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) curriculum, through programs such as the CSIRO’s “Scientist in School’s” program. This program connects professional scientists currently working in the forefront of their field of expertise with our students and learning focuses. Our STEM programs focus on building skills in cross-disciplinary areas of learning, while developing critical and creative thinking, problem solving and digital technologies.
I am privileged to be principal at such a caring, nurturing and vibrant school. I believe in we offer a whole person approach to learning for each student. This includes ensuring academic success, but also nurturing the individual through our wellbeing and values program. Our staff encourage wellbeing through the Smiling minds program, Kidsmatter and trialling TRIBES to promote connectedness throughout the school community. Our school values are resilience, co-operation, friendship, achievement, respect, responsibility, persistence and organisation – our golden rules is “treat others as we want to be treated”.
I am proud of our school and believe it offers every student a wonderful opportunity to be their best, through extensive learning and wellbeing programs, in a caring and nurturing environment.
I extend a warm welcome to you and your family and invite you to contact the school or myself for more information or to arrange a school tour. Come on inside and feel the difference, learning at Kinglake Primary School provides!
